Rent-A-Center’s association with Big Brothers Big Sisters is a great fit. Rent-A-Center sought out and found an organization whose mission could potentially affect the lives of their customers and their customers’ children.
In 2003, Rent-A-Center began a three-week spring fundraising campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters in its stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. Customers, co-workers and the public contribute a minimum $1 donation and sign their name on a colorful paper egg, which hangs near the counter for the duration of the campaign. Now in its 8th year, Rent-A-Center and its customers have raised more than $1.5 million for Big Brothers Big Sisters nationwide.
For the top fund raising store, the Rent-A-Center president flies to the store’s location to take all staff and their guests out to dinner to congratulate them personally. That’s how committed they are to the success of the program. The top 100 stores are also listed in the company newspaper.
“The relationship between Big Brothers Big Sisters and Rent-A-Center has been mutually beneficial,” said Mark Speese, Rent-A-Center Chairman and CEO.
